Right click on MyComputer, Manage, Disk Management ..
See if it is listed there. You can format it there also.

It says,
"The disk in drive....is not formatted , Do you want to format it now?" ..when I click yes.It says :
"The drive cannot be formatted"
It's listed in the drives set..I tried everything within windows but I maybe need special tool or it needs to be in the bin
any other suggestions !

Re: formatting imation flash memory stick!
High Pirate, just get a new one, Ive been down that lane many times. I end up with my memory stick saying used space 0 bytes free space 0 bytes and when I try to format it says it cant. I learnt that this prob arises due to a bug in XP I dont know how far thats true. However after losing a couple of memory sticks I decided to format one using a utility. The result was that I ended up with far much fewer space than it actually was, and the Flash still works up to today. Funny isnt it ?

Re: formatting imation flash memory stick!
I find that GPartEd sometimes formats unformattable drives, including flash drives. It's available in a bootable image. Just download it, burn the image to a CD and boot it.
The most difficult part of developing a program is understanding the problem.
The second most difficult part is deciding how you're going to solve the problem.
Actually writing the program (translating your solution into some computer language) is the easiest part.

I did get new one.The I/O circuit is screwed...before formatting it , that data was there but I can't copy, add, delete from it.The main problem with FM I believe is that manufacturers don't install enough surge protectors , just to keep its size small.
and Al42 , I'll try that.It won't harm anyway .
