    What's the scanner M8?

You ALWAYS install the oldest operating system first.

So you'de install W98 on C: and then IN WINDOWS, run setup from the XP CD and select New & Clean installation. In options... be sure to check "I want to choose the partition during setup" option. This will allow you to choose D: for the XP install.

In short... that's it! Make sure all your other hardware is listed in the HCL (Hardware compatability List), but other than that... you're set!

    Hope this helps.

    Regards,

    Paul.

a Plustek FB iV P, i assume the P stands for parallel port, they don't provide drivers for XP and *nix's SANE "Scanner Access Now Easy" is a definite misnomer

Try the standard TWAIN or NT drivers from the Plustek website. I know it lists your scanner as a non-xp compliant scanner, but don't forget... they want you to buy another scanner!!!

Make sure your parallel port is set to ECP&EPP, enabling you to use both printer (where available) and scanner most effectively. Some scanners don't support ECP+, but I think your's does!

The Plustek software WILL NOT work with XP, but then 90% of Plustek's bits do!

You can use Imaging (at a push), or download a freebie for a while.

Either way will work with a few little modifications.

    Regards,

    Paul.
