[RESOLVED] Removing Ubuntu.
A while back I removed Windows Vista just to give room for Linux (Ubuntu).
For some reason, Windows Vista is still in my boot menu but it gives me an error when I select it (of course).
Now I want to remove Ubuntu and install Windows Vista again, but what I'm wondering is the following:
- When my pc starts, linux "Grub" boot thingie automatically starts up, if i just format the drive that linux is on, will this cause any problems (ie trying to load Grub then Grub is not there anymore) with my boot screen or will the "normal" boot screen show as usual?
- Will installing Vista create yet another 'Windows Vista' choice in the boot menu? Ive already got one
Thanks.

Maybe one of the "Linux" members could lend you a hand on this?

Re: Removing Ubuntu.
Installing a windows operating system will over-write the linux bootloader already in place. Microsoft don't play nice with bootloaders.

Re: Removing Ubuntu.
You may still have a recovery partition on your HDD, if you want to put it back to factor settings, press F11 when botting (something like thatm, refer to your manual)

Re: Removing Ubuntu.
If for some reason after removing Linux and installing Windows you still have bootloader problems, the easiest way to fix it is to insert your Windows CD, and boot to the recovery console. Once you're there, the command is "fixmbr"

Re: Removing Ubuntu.
Very good point, however dont mispell it, there is a command similar that will screw your machine over if executed..
