    Resolved [RESOLVED] Question for Mods

l have downloaded a 15 ball billiard game from another site , and by maniplating the code , l made a new game , of French billiard
with 3 balls for my personal use and it works fine .
l tried to get in touch with the author , email him and all , but had no reply .
Is it ethical to share this new game and/or publish it in this site and where , since l have a couple of additional questions which will
    make it even better .

    Thanks

    Re: Question for Mods

    Moved to Forum Feedback.

We should wait for a firm answer from the Admins on this but my personal take is that it would depend on the context in which the original author published his code and what they said you had permission to do with it. Anything short of them explicitly giving permission for third parties to amend and republish the code means you probably shouldn't do so.

    Re: Question for Mods

There is nothing actually in the author's project posting to state anything regarding permission or otherwise .

The only thing that has remained as it was is the Module of he project . Everything else appearance , form and code is entirely different .

    Re: Question for Mods

If they don't explicitly state that they are making it public domain then you're better off assuming they're not. Contrary to the way many people behave on the internet, the act of publishing doesn't create public domain or give up intellectual property rights.

As for whether what you have produced is different enough to constitute original work, you're in a better position that we are to judge. My suggestion would be that you limit what you post here to the stuff that you feel really comfortable is your own. Ie, nothing that was in the original code.

    Acceptable Use Policy

"If you post any graphic images, photographs or videos, you warrant that you have all necessary rights to such Content and accept all liability for any model or property release issues that may arise from an individual or trademarked property in the Content. Please do not submit any images, photographs or videos for which you do not have a current, valid model or property release."

This doesn't specifically state "CODE" but you should assume that it does.
