    Function Keys in Windows 10

I'm moving VB projects to Windows 10 and find that when I go to test or make a change, Windows 10 owns the function keys. Instead of just pressing F8 repeatedly to step through code, one has to click Debug in the menu and then click F8 in the dropdown list --both, for each step. Is there a way to make Windows 10 get out of the way?

Windows 10 should not be interfering. There may be another issue however.

Maybe someting went wrong with your VB install (failed to install elevated and/or didn't install service packs)? I do not have that issue and have been using Win10 for couple years now.

The service packs may be the answer. Question: are they cumulative? Does 5 contain 1 through 4. Or does one need to plow through all? Their labeling (CDs) says nothing about that.

If you have not installed SP6, then check out this link:

Re: Function Keys in Windows 10

I'm pretty sure all of them were cumulative.

    I'd use https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down...s.aspx?id=9183

Thanks. True confession. I had forgotten about service packs, VB was installed on my previous computer so long ago.
I have 1 thru 5 on CD and just checked the link you provided for SP6, but neither does it mention whether it is all inclusive or whether I need to load 6 service packs. Just hoping to save time if anyone knows.

Thanks, dilettante, and apologies. I didn't see your message before shooting off that last question.

Ok, I'll say it more strongly: the one for VS 6.0 as a whole I linked to is definitely cumulative.

No, you said it strongly enough. I was just sloppy, which is inconsiderate considering how helpful all of you have been.

    Be well,

Don't worry. I wasn't positive until I went back over my notes from the last time I installed VB6.

I don't have a clue how any of it relates to the function keys though. To me it sounds like "unplug it, wait, plug it back in."

You really want the SP fixes anyway, I just don't see the connection with your original issue.
