    Web application suggestions

    I need a bit of guidance and some optionís about a web application built in VBA.NET web forms.
    We are hosting our own DNS name along with another CNAME using IIS.

    10.19.5- > mypage.net
    10.19.5 -> mymusic.net

    Using a function upon initial page load to determine that the URL is either mypage.net or mymusic.net; this would fire off
    A either set of page load that could be mypage.css or mymusic.css depending on the URL.

    What are your thoughts
    Is this good practice?

    I know that having 2 separate applications on 2 URLS is ideal but I may forced to utilize only 1 server.

    Using a single server to serve up two applications/sites isn't anything new. Even with a shared IP Address, if their URI is different, it shouldn't be a problem. Two things come to mind: First, I'd make sure that each site/application is in its own folder & structure, do NOT commingle them at all. At most they should only share the initial web root folder. Second, I would not wait until page load to determine which site/application you want. That just feels... wrong. You should be able to create a URL rewrite rule in the web root's httpconfig file (I think that's the right place) that examines the requesting url, and can then redirect to the correct application/site based on that. IF you configure it at the server level, it'll be seamless to the user... otherwise you're going to have to do that check on every single page. Every. Single. Page.

    https://www.digicert.com/ssl-support...ders-iis-7.htm is probably a good starting point - using host headers you can have multiple sites on the same server, same IP but let IIS handle sending traffic to the correct site.
