    Attaching .mdf files

I have two instances of SQL Server (2014 Express and 2012 Development).
The first instance has a database called DiarySoft and the second instance a database without tables called DairySoftRemote.
I need to attach the .mdf file from the first instance database to the second instance database.
Is there a way to do it?

    Thanks

You could attach a copy of the database by following the instructions in https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql...ql-server-2017 which would also allow you to rename the database as you attach it.

    Thanks PlausiblyDamp,

I tried it and it says that I wish to attach a file from version 782 to version 706 and a downgrade is not supported. So I guess I will have to redo the tables. I only wanted to copy the structure, not the data.
