Resolved [RESOLVED] Windows 10 Tablet and VB executables

Just wondering if anyone can let me know any of the following.

Does the tablet version of Windows 10 allow you to install apps that are not downloaded from the store?
Can you install an app written in VB6 on it?
If so are there any limitations as to usage of ocx and such.

If not VB6 then will they run say an app created in VB 2008?
Are there any limitations related to VB.Net on them as to what frameworks they work with?

The app will need to talk to a server real time via TCP so if VB6 would likely use Winsock ocx and in VB.Net then the sockets class.
I already have a pretty good code base for both winsock and the sockets class from other apps I have written over the years so if those will work it would simplify things.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that some of the Windows tablets only supported apps from the Windows Store and that some or all of them did not support VB6 but again I have not had one on hand so have not been able to check anything out for myself.

The customer is not yet committed to the type of device, they may end up with an Android instead and I may end up doing the program so it runs in a browser rather than as an exe but I would rather do it in VB if possible.

    Any info would be helpful.

All of my VB6 applications just run fine on W10 tablets, nothing special about that. If it works on the desktop version, it will work on the tablet, too.

    Thanks

Is there still an RT version like there was with Windows 8 or is it now just Windows 10?
If there are more than one version then which version do you use?

No, RT is dead. What you're thinking of is Windows 10 in S mode. That's restricted to Store apps only.
