Xojo Improved? VB6 alternative, anyone have experience with this?

    Hello Again,

Many years I attempted to test XOJO for porting one of my projects, at the time the GUI designer was sluggish with the 255 controls I had on a form, that pretty much discouraged me to continue.

I ran into it yesterday because I am thinking about porting a part of my app to run on Raspberry pi. I love the fact that it is vb syntax, but the fact that its not open source and does not run on as many platforms as Lazarus is a bit concerning.

Anyone out there have experience with XOJO, any thoughts?

    thanks

First: Xojo is supposed to run on Windows, Mac and Linux.
I was fiddling around with Xojo, too, some years ago, since at that time it was the nearest "kinda-VB" for all 3 Platforms.
Well, since i switched to Linux some years ago, and the IDE always crashed on my Ubuntu, and my inquiry in the official forum wielded no response,
i put it there where it belongs: Paper-Bin!
One System to rule them all, One IDE to find them,
One Code to bring them all, and to the Framework bind them,
in the Land of Redmond, where the Windows lie

People call me crazy because i'm jumping out of perfectly fine airplanes.

For health reasons i try to avoid reading unformatted Code

I don't use Xojo myself but I know some people who do so I asked around. The general consensus is that it has improved a good deal over the years. Nobody could tell me how it would handle over 200 controls on a single form since they'd never heard of anybody using that many. It's probably worth giving it a try again since it targets the Pi.

You could look at B4J or Gambas for Raspberry pi. Maybe NSBasic too.
