    Your question is far too vague. "gives Distinct values" is not a well-defined expression. the answer could be yes or no, depending what you actually mean. Please explain what you're trying to achieve, how you're trying to achieve it and what actually happens when you try.

    GROUP BY will generate one record per distinct set of values from the columns you group by and aggregated values for the other columns. If that's what you mean by "gives Distinct values" then yes, it does, otherwise it doesn't.
