    Create shortcut from shortcut

I am currently looking if itīs possible to create shortcut from shortcut - specifically, I have file "example.doc" in C:\test; its shortcut is placed in C:\test\shr; finally Iīve created shortcut from example.lnk in C:\test\shr2.

Now, Iīve looked at the target path. Target path of shortcut in the shr2 folder is "C:\test\example.doc" instead of "C:\test\shr\example.lnk"

Itīs possible to have the target path of the second shortcut from "C:\test\shr2" as a "C:\test\shr\example.lnk"?

    Thanks.

That doesn't make sense. A shortcut opens a target file or application. What is the point of having a shortcut target a shortcut that targets a file, when you should only use a shortcut to target a file or application?

It'd make more sense if you wanted to create a shortcut to C:\test\shr, which would open that folder in explorer

Why exactly would you want such a thing?

I need to hide the real file destination. Therefore I need shortcut from shortcut.
For example - in auto startup there will be only "item.lnk" instead of "document.docx".
Another example - when user wants to determine the real file destination, he ends up only with another .lnk file again.

But what's the point of that? It's a moot point, because Windows won't allow you to create a shortcut to a shortcut, but I'm interested to know what the actual point is.

Specifically, I need to hide the real file destination. So when user wants to know the real file location (i.e. opens shortcut location), it redirects him to another shortcut which points to another and so on.
The same with .lnk file signature - when user wants to view the real file destination by analyzing shortcut signature (i.e. content in hex viewer - shortcut path), he ends up only with another .lnk file.

Thank you for repeating what you had already posted. You already said that and I asked what the point of that was. Forget it. It doesn't matter anyway.
