    USB and X-Ray

    I've now had two USB keys that failed after going through airport security. I've also had a few that did not fail. Is there some issue with X-rays destroying that kind of memory?

    I havent heard anything yet but many people are sending their laptops through the xray security check. I would figure if there was that ssd drives would fail too like usb flash drives

    Have never had a problem sending a Surface Pro through the scanner, but USB sticks...has not been good.

    plastic or metal enclosures? I use metal ones, and haven't had any issues.

    This is what I use --> https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-Digi.../dp/B00DYQYITG

    The only drawback is that Kingstons usually have an issue booting an OS (design flaw) but I've been able to use it boot to win10 on the machines I've tried.

    Re: USB and X-Ray

    Interesting thought. These were both plastic enclosures. In fact, the ones that survived and the ones that died were all plastic enclosures. One of them has gone through a few scanners without issue.

    The comments in that link that RD added certainly suggest that something can be happening, even though the article said that nothing should happen.
