...And Java, which is also loosely based on C, is the most used programming language in the world...

What on earth gave you the idea that C can move easily on C# ?!
This is far from truth.
Also if there is no code involved maybe this must be moved from this thread.

I think the comparison is that there are a lot of languages which have evolved from C. I don't know how easy it is to convert C to C#, but I know C# to Java can take a lot of work, whereas VB.Net to C# can be almost perfectly converted with a free converter...
I've already reported this thread and suggested it should be moved to ChitChat

Re: what reason is may be VB.Net win C#
I get the feeling that the point of this thread is that VB.NET is ahead of C# on the specified index. I think that the OP may be drawing an incorrect conclusion from that The linked page specifically says that it's not about popularity or lines of code. VB.NET is doing OK but there's no doubt that C# is more popular and, probably more importantly, better supported by both Microsoft and the community. I think that one advantage that VB.NET has over C# in that particular index is that training courses are a factor and VB.NET is seen and positioned as more of a beginners language.
On the subject of porting C to C#, I have to agree that it is a far from trivial matter. I learned to code at university in C and my first job was writing C++ but, after I had been working in .NET for a few years, I tried to convert some C++ to C# and it was a nightmare. C would be even harder I would expect. Translating between C# and VB.NET is very easy because the structure of the code is usually pretty much identical and there's a close-to one-to-one correspondence between code structures. That is certainly not the case between C and C#.

I think (though I'm not sure) that there's a caps to regular ratio above which the forum assumes you're just shouting (or have a broken keyboard) so it automatically converts your post to regular. I think it's actually 100% caps that does it but haven't tested it.
