ADO.NET with Excel, reference column A

    Hello:

I would like to write a query statement that gets column A.

    Something line this:

    Code:
                Dim sql2 As String = "SELECT * FROM [" & CSVFILENAME & "] WHERE [" & CSVFILENAMEWITHOUTEXT & "$.col1] = '" & BackLevel(Level) & "'" ' ORDER BY 1"
My trouble is with the WHERE clause. I have no column headers here, but it is always column A!

    Thanks

in ADO without headers, first column name is "F1"
i do my best to test code works before i post it, but sometimes am unable to do so for some reason, and usually say so if this is the case.
Note code snippets posted are just that and do not include error handling that is required in real world applications, but avoid On Error Resume Next

dim all variables as required as often i have done so elsewhere in my code but only posted the relevant part

come back and mark your original post as resolved if your problem is fixed

Where does the F come from? Is the second F2 and so forth?

    So...
    Code:
    Dim sql2 As String = "SELECT * FROM [" & CSVFILENAME & "] WHERE F2 = '" & _BackPN & "'"
    for column 2??

Where does the F come from?
my guess field 1, field 2 etc

if you just open a recordset select * from worksheet$ you can then return the names of all the fields
    Code:
    for f = 0 to rs.fields.count -1
       debug.print rs.fields(f).name
    next
where rs is a recordset, tested in ado, not ado.net
