the designer cannot process name "formattingenabled' at line 30.

I am an amateur programmer, but have made (simple)applications in basic/visual basic/.net now for decades from time to time.

I have now downloaded visual studio 2017, and are experiencing problems I havent seen in earlier versions.
It seems like there is some fundamental about visual studio 2017 which I dont understand. If I keep Visual Studio open, then everything is fine, and I can program and use visual desginer. If I close visual studio, and reopen the application, I get error message.
I have now tried to just make a listbox or a button and save and close and reopen, and I still get this error message which I dont understand. I can compile and run program, but I cant open design-view.

"To prevent possible data loss before loading the designer, the following errors must be resolved'
"the designer cannot process unknown name 'formattingenabled' at line 30. the code within the method 'initializecomponent' is generated by the designer and should not be manually modofied. please remove any changes and try opening the designer'

I havent removed anything. In this example all I have done is add a listbox.

I hope anyone can helt an unexperienced user with what I'm missing here.

To me, that sounds like your installation might be corrupt. Try an uninstall/reinstall cycle and see what happens.
This answer is wrong. You should be using TableAdapter and Dictionaries instead.
