Opening a worksheet in an external program without opening excel itself
I am writing a program which will involve calculation and automation of results. I want to use the excel library for this function and when I tried showing only the worksheet without opening excel itself i couldn't. or is this not the best way to write a program to perform calculations using rows and columns? or is there a way I can cause the worksheet to appear in my program without opening excel itself?

NO
you can open excel and keep it hidden, but it will still be open
you can obtain data from excel workbooks without opening excel (or even having it installed) using ADO, but that is not what you want to do
you can put an ole control in your program so that the worksheet appears in your program window, but it will still open excel in background
you can probably do most of the calculations within your own program, depending what you are wanting to do
i do my best to test code works before i post it, but sometimes am unable to do so for some reason, and usually say so if this is the case.
Note code snippets posted are just that and do not include error handling that is required in real world applications, but avoid On Error Resume Next
dim all variables as required as often i have done so elsewhere in my code but only posted the relevant part
come back and mark your original post as resolved if your problem is fixed
