    Adding a comment with Reputation

I received a Reputation notification and noticed
that a comment appeared as well.

I just tried to give someone Reputation but didn't
see how to add a comment.

Yes, you are missing the lower half of that dialog:

I'm not sure why you aren't seeing the full dialog. I suggest trying one of the following:

    * See if you can change the size of the dialog.
    * With the rep box selected, try pressing tab and see if you go to the other form fields. My guess is the fields are simply not shown on the dialog.
    * Try a different browser

    Ideas 1 and 2 .. no go.

Idea 3 .. I'm using IE and Windows 10. Are you suggesting that
there's something wrong with MS Internet Explorer?

I've seen this in other systems with Windows 10, It was when using a 4K monitor and the magnification was set to larger than 100%

    Gary

    My magnification is at 100%.

But I'm thinking my issue with IE 11 is more involved.

    o I have issues when I try to Edit Post .. basically, I can't
o When I click Reply, I don't see my post .. need to press F5
    o The Reputation issue.

I would hope that VBForums doesn't have a grudge against IE users ,,

Might just be one IE user....

    or not....

I pulled this up on IE to see what I get. I'm getting a cut off dialog as well. Mine is cut differently than yours, but cut none-the-less. This might be a vBulletin issue, but I'll see if I can get someone to take a look.

This issue is showing on multiple forums (we checked other forums). That points to the software more so than what we did. We'll see what can be learned though.

    Yes.

It is either how IE is translating something, or it is something vBulletin is doing. We need to look closer to figure that out. The issue doesn't appear to be happening on Google Chrome or FireFox. As a note, I just ran the forum in compatibility mode on IE, and it displays correctly. That kind of points toward IE....

Have you tried compatibility mode in IE for the site? Please try that and see if the dialog renders correctly.

    Thanks!

    Brad

I tried this on my IE:

    1. Tools > Compatibility View settings >
    2. I get a dialogue box with "Add this website" ,, it defaults to vbforums.com
    3. I click Add

    Good news:
I get the Rep box as shown in your post #2.

    Bad news:
My basic Quick Reply box is all gray .. ie, I can't type anything in it !!

Did I do (my 3 steps listed above) what you were thinking?

Yes.That is what I did to resolve the issue on my system with IE. The gray reply box, is a new issue... When this happens, can you try reloading the page (simple browser refresh) to see it clears itself up? (This resolves some other issues with the quick reply box that happen).

Sadly, it did NOT resolve the issue.

    I tried both

    1. F5 .. refresh
    2. cold restart .. close IE, re-open IE

The gray reply box issue persists.

Win 10 here... Chrome, IE 11 and Edge can all do the reputation...

No problem with the gray reply box either.

And we confirmed again that there are no add-ins running on IE including ad blockers, and that javascript is up and running?

Are you using Microsoft Edge or Classic Internet Explorer?

Try not to use classic Internet Explorer if you are on Windows 10 XD

I suggest using Edge on windows 10 or chrome. Both are much more secure and less crappy when it comes to websites working approperately.

Re: Adding a comment with Reputation

Ever since about a year and a half ago, Microsoft had a funeral procession and stuck ALL Internet Explorer Versions in thier respective graves - ending support, Security updates, and general updates.

By 2015-2016 over half of the websites you visit will say something like:

We no longer support Internet Explorer, we suggest you use another browser
Microsoft specifically said, that it would be MUCH more secure ditching IE for another more maintained browser.

When Windows 10 rolled out they released MS Edge, a predecessor to the Internet Explorer line up, which is from what I have heard more effecient and less choosy on CSS3 and HTML5 techniques.

    In this article:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...-of-ie-support

It means you should take action. After January 12, 2016, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates or technical support for older versions of Internet Explorer. Security updates patch vulnerabilities that may be exploited by malware, helping to keep users and their data safer. Regular security updates help protect computers from malicious attacks, so upgrading and staying current is important.
For some websites, it says it will allow you to use IE 11, but the thing is, IE 11 is practically MS Edge, but then again I don't trust IE.

    With MS Edge, and Chrome:

    - Regular Updated

    - Security loop holes found overtime are patched in "alive" projects

    Without A modern up-to-date browser:

    - Not updated,

    - No updates means less secure due to loop holes being left open for hackers.

    - Theft of your personal information, even passwords can be stolen.
