    [ACCESS]Opening Access 2003 in Access 2016

    I have a old XP-based box with Access 2003.

When I click my short-cut, it launches Access 2003

    1. I get a msg "You can't make changes to the database"

.. This database was created in a earlier version of
    .. Microsoft Office Access.

    2. I click OK
    3. The various Tables associated with this .mdb are listed
    4. I click the one I want
    5. I click Open
    6. The Table opens, and I can read it and add records

BTW, the name of the mbd appears in the header with
    (Access 95 file format)
I forgot how old it was ..

I copied that file to my new box with Access 2016.

    When I launch it I get ..

Cannot open a database created with a previous version
    of your application
    > OK
    > Help
When I click Help, I'm taken to a Microsoft site, but I'm
not sure what to do there. It is

    https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/lib...ffice.15).aspx

    On the new box ..
    1. All I want to do is view one of the Tables.
    2. BTW, one of my VB6 apps works fine and can
(ahem) access Access mdbs via code

Is there any way I can read/convert the old mdb?

Per that link, sounds like you needed a pre-converter, a middleman. Access 2003 serves that purpose and fortunately you still have it.
