    Resolved [RESOLVED] Viewed threads.

    Hi,

On the Forum List Page, the one from which all the forums can be selected, on my screen every forum has the 'White tick, on Green disc' icon which I interpret as 'You have posted in this forum'.
I certainly haven't even opened all the forums let alone contributed to them all.

Is that between the thread title/description and the number of threads/posts?

Hovering over it shows me "Subscribe to this forum", and the forums I have subscribed to show a black circle instead.

    Hi,

Yes, that's what I'm talking about, I haven't 'Hovered' over the icon previously, I see that when doing that it does in fact say "Subscribe to this forum".
However, now that I know I've taken another look and I don't see any 'Black Circles' on any forum, not even the one I've posted on today.

If you post to a forum, you aren't automatically subscribed to that forum. You need to manually do it.

Unless you clicked the green circle (or maybe there is a way to do it via your preferences as well), you will not see any black circles, because you haven't subscribed.

    Hi kfc Smitty...

    Define 'Subscribed' ?

    Re: Viewed threads.

I don't know if my forum subscriptions behave differently (because I'm a moderator), but for forums I am subscribed to:

    • The Settings/UserCP page ( http://www.vbforums.com/usercp.php ) not only lists Threads I've subscribed to (that have activity since I last viewed them), but also a list of the Forums I've subscribed to (a similar view to the image Brad posted).

    • I get up to one email a day giving a summary of activity in a forum (list of new threads, and list of updated threads - with links to the posts).

    • Probably moderator specific: for some forums, I get emails whenever a new thread is created.

As si_the_geek said, that's for subscribing to the forum. I would not suggest it though. It sounds like you'd get emailed with every post in the forum. That might be good for a moderator, but not for someone concerned mostly with his posts or posts he's commented on.

    Re: Viewed threads.

You don't get emailed for every post.

For most of the forums I'm subscribed to, I only get one email per day (with links to new/updated threads), and that is only if there are new/updated threads (so for some of the quieter forums, it can be weeks between emails).

I think that is all that non-moderators get.

The other forums I'm subscribed to, I am a moderator of, so I get more emails (but not for every post). I think only moderators get this.

FYI on Subscribed Threads/Posts - if you are on the site when a Subscribed Threads gets responded to - you won't receive an email notification...
Wi-fi went down for five minutes, so I had to talk to my family....They seem like nice people.

They aren't particularly different, and as they are also small that's an easy mistake to make
