What's Wrong With My Delete VBForums Code?
It won't make the forum go away.

You may want to hang on for .Net 4.9 with its new ScriptKiddie namespace.

I don't see a thing. Maybe it's working better than you think.
Wi-fi went down for five minutes, so I had to talk to my family....They seem like nice people.

You need to go to a command prompt and type "Format C:". That should fix it.

You can also try compressing your drive... Del *.* = 100% compression.

Generally speaking, that comment has a major colonel of truth to it.

Maybe trying again you will have better luck. The hard drive was probably tired. Newer hard drives take formatting much better.

Sorry to hear that. Make sure to clean the new one thoroughly when you get it. A quick dip in a bath of strong detergent should suffice.

A while back one of my files became corrupted. I got the local priest to carry out an exorcism but it didn't appear to help. Eventually I burned the PC at the stake.

There are a lot of situations where people think they have backups and really they don't - the only way to be sure you have a backup is to do a restore to see what you really have. I think very few people do that.

Yeah, I used to work with a DBA who was fond of saying "Your backup strategy is worthless, what's your restore strategy?"

That's why they are called data recovery plans... Not data backup plans.

Yeah, I used to work with a DBA who was fond of saying "Your backup strategy is worthless, what's your restore strategy?"
I once did a Disaster Recovery exercise for a previous employer, i got halfway through couldn't get hold some of the backup tapes i needed and was told to stop to concentrate on project work that was bringing us in money as it was taking to long.
And out of all the places i have worked at they probably did more than most. One place i worked they were doing backups which were then being put in the support guys draw at his desk this was a multi-million pound company!

Re: What's Wrong With My Delete VBForums Code?
Well this is a coincidence.
Last night someone high up in our company who has permissions for everything on the network deleted some folders that drove a hidden share.
This happens to be the folder I use to store company wide configuration files for my custom company apps.
Every custom program I wrote for the company crashed this morning when the users fired them up.
I got the files restored from my backups, but the permissions were boogered. Long story short. We are back in business as of 9:30am.
