Hi,
I have, I suspect like many others, a VB Forums link on my Bookmarks Bar.
I've renewed this a few times this month, but I don't get an icon with it, just a place marker.
I'm wondering if it's a 'feature' of Win.10 because I'm sure my machines running Win.7 have an icon. I'm going home tomorrow so I'll be able to check that, but meanwhile this Win.10 laptop doesn't get an icon.
Might this be because the internet connection at this hotel is incredibly slow ?
I wouldn't've thought so, but stranger things happen.

Re: Bookmark.
I just added the site to my bar in Chrome/Win 10... No icon for me either. Did another one for msn.com and got an icon.
On the other hand - bookmarks here have an icon when its in the list.
Wi-fi went down for five minutes, so I had to talk to my family....They seem like nice people.

Re: Bookmark.
If there is a favicon.ico associated with the site, it will get shown, otherwise you get nada. On a Chromebook here with Chrome... no icon for me either. There used to be one, but it's been s9ome time since I've seen it. I also seem to remember that it depended on whether you use www.vbforums.com (no icon) or vbforums.com (icon)... shrug.

Ah, yes... I really ought to've said I'm using the Google Chrome browser.
I forget about other browsers, once Netscape closed I tried IE of course but I really disliked it so I almost never use it, I've tried others over the years but I keep returning to Chrome.

I just tried vbforums.com without the www.
Chrome automatically replaced it !
I swapped the link for a new one from that URL but of course it was just the same.

Just had a thought... Didn't VB Forums used to be called VB Wire ? I wonder if that was when we had the icon ?

How difficult is it to add a favicon.ico to the site ?

Re: Bookmark.
It seems to be fickle for me. As you can see by the screenshot, I got the favicon displayed on IE. It is showing on the tab in Firefox as well. I also created a bookmark on my bookmark bar and it showed there too.
Can someone that isn't seeing the FavIcon type in www.vbforums.com/favicon.ico and then see what happens after that?
Thanks,
Brad!

Re: Bookmark.
I get a white page with the icon when clicking on the link above... No sites so an icon in the Address bar for me in Chrome.

Re: Bookmark.
The link to www.vbforums.com/favicon.ico will just give you just the icon image. That is not a forum page, but rather a direct link to the favicon for the forum. Thus, the white page you saw (Steve) was correct.

As you can see.
Now then... (I think I may've mentioned) I have an extremely slow internet connection here, and it takes ages for these pages to download, to the extent that more often than not the download window (?) times out and everything stops, I have to click the reload page button.
Sometimes when this happens, frequently when previewing a post, the page just, for the want of a better word, stalls. I click reload and two seconds later it all stops again with nothing on the page... But: the icon does show in the tab heading, as it's doing in this image.

Then why is the HTML here trying to get the icon from "vbforums.com.lampdev/" ?
HTML Code:
<link rel="Shortcut Icon" href="http://vbforums.com.lampdev/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon" />
There is nothing at this link, http://vbforums.com.lampdev/favicon.ico
