    The day's biggest decision

So I am off the next two days, and I have finally arrived to the most salient point of my day: Whats for lunch?

I am currently contemplating heading over to the new Chipotle they just built or Jimmy Johns. So, what does everyone do for work lunch? What is your favorite lunch spot?

Pretty nearly whatever I find myself at works pretty good. There are several different types of places around me, including Thai, Indian, sushi, Mongolian, pizza, Mexican, and a variety of cafes, bistros, burger places, and the like.

I imagine you having a Forrest Gump moment for lunch:

    French Fried Potatoes
    Baked Potatoes
    Scalloped Potatoes
    Potatoes Au Gratin
    Cheesy Potato Bake
    Baked Potato Soup

Yeah, all of those and several Middle Eastern cuisines close by here. Most within walking distance, including over at the lake where there are hot dog, pasty, shwarma, gyro, taco, etc. carts operating on nice days.

I bring my lunch Monday thru Thursday for under 2 bucks per day.....and pig out on BBQ on Fridays.
Wi-fi went down for five minutes, so I had to talk to my family....They seem like nice people.

    No more brown-bagging here.

Retired from the old 2080 hours/year day job. Now working from home and travelling for contract work.

This gives me more options for lunch, though I suppose I could still brown-bag and head to the beach or a park. Or just chill and grill on the patio like I often do anyway.

When I'm out of town though I usually get put up in cheapo motels rather than a suite with a kitchen, so that rules brown-bagging out for most gigs. Heck, in St. Louis I'm lucky if it isn't a day where the motel's water main is broken and I can't even shower in the morning. Seriously, this has happened on two separate trips.

    OP shall deliver!

So, a food truck ended up showing up and threw a wrench into my Chipotle plans. My life has more plot twists than a Michael Bay movie. It seems I had a date with Southern style food: Pork Chop, mac n cheese, baked beans, and yellow rice.

    Pork chop - Iowa
    Mac'n'cheese - Italy
    Baked beans - Boston
    Yellow rice - Spain

I'm not fum de Souf' myself, but none of that sounds very "Southern" to me.

Add an excessive amount of grease and lots of black pepper, and it will be southern.

True enough I guess. "Style" can make the difference as much as anything else.

I ate boudin for lunch today, that's pretty southern. Then again depending on what end of the south that you're end, Steve's post sounds very southern too.

Biggest decision so far today has been to have an in-house tasting for the tacos... it went well, better than I expected knowing my wife's somewhat sensitive taste buds for spicy stuff.
