Unscientific survey - Tacos - corn or flour?

Doing an unscientific survey and wonder what people's opinion are.

When it comes to tacos, what kind of tortilla is preferred and/or better: corn or flour?
This is in regards to the soft variety. The hard shell is a completely different conversation and not relevant for my needs.

I've used these as bread for sandwiches on sailing trips where normal bread would be...rendered as flat as a tortilla. Not only do the corn variety not hold up as well (they tear too easily), I find them to be terribly bland.

Yeh i would go Flour too, they are more to my tastes

    Doing an unscientific survey
Whats unscientific about this survey ?? I am absolutely convinced that once you have the results you will be able to make claims like 98% of those surveyed preferred our Flour Tacos!

(i am assuming you are going into the Tacos business after this)

Flour. If it was hard tacos then obviously it would be corn.

I chose corn because I like the taste and consistency better.

However, I think it also depends on the taco. Is it a more American taco (Meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato, etc) or are they street tacos (meat, onions, cilantro)

    American tacos = Flour
    Street Tacos = corn

Re: Unscientific survey - Tacos - corn or flour?

Consider it market research for my food truck... so yeah, we're talking more street tacos style... meat, pico, onions, shredded cabbage, queso blanco.... not the americanized version... we're going for something a bit more "classy". Now I can't wait for lunch... planning on having some shrimp tacos.

I personally like the corn tortillas, especially with steak... I jsut find they fall apart a little too easily.

Maybe I'll offer both and people can have which ever they want. so far a lot of the responses I've gotten are split.

You can't go wrong with both. Tortilla's are cheap even if you don't hand make them. 40 count pre-bought flour tortilla's are about $20 at Sams and 80 count pre-bought corn are more or less the same $20-$30.

You can dual layer the corn tortillas. And if the tacos are small enough they should be able to last long enough to eat.

I prefer chicken all around. or Pork.

If anything, this poll will provide what types of tacos techies like. Not a true market proportion.

Also, bring your truck to my house so I can buy some tacos.

This isn't hte only copy of the poll... I've got it out on FB, G+ & Twitterverse.

I had some shrimp tacos for lunch, experimented with the corn tortillas... the trick it heating them up, makes them pliable.... doubled them up, added 6-8 shrimp, some diced onions, a shot of sauce, & cilantro.... nom nom nom nom....

I love shrimp tacos, if you grill them and they have that little bit a char on them... Mmmmm. Another thing that I absolutely love with my shrimp tacos is to have a half of a filet of tilapi shredded in there with it, talk about really elevating the seafood flavor!

Re: Unscientific survey - Tacos - corn or flour?

So corn would be the more authentic way to go, however, I myself prefer the flour tortilla. After a while, the corn gets all soggy and tears apart, but man can that flour tortilla keep on truckin'.

We used to have a restaurant here that had a machine that would automatically roll and cook flour tortillas in front of you. Those tortillas were seriously to die for. I shed a tear when that place closed down..

    cilantro
I actually had to look that up, When i first heard it i thought you Americans have come up with yet another word for something everybody else calls Coriander

...but no its the Spanish word for Coriander which i assume is more used due to Latin immigration into the US.

I actually had take away from a Restaurant Called Corriander over the weekend its pretty much the tastiest Indian food you can buy that's not home made in my neck of the woods.

I voted for flour which here in Oregon I see more of at portable restaurants which tend to be better then regular restaurants.

    Corn with a capital C.
The flour reminds me of the taste of the cheap paste we used in grade school.

I'm still wondering about this "Sam's" that sells "pre-bought" food products.

I said pre-bought but I meant pre-made. But Sam's is owned by Wal-Mart and it's their answer to Costco.

They use "Taco Bell" brand tacos on the ISS because they basically keep for 6 months unrefridgerated. And they are good for patching leaks in the CO2 scrubbers too.

That may be true, but they make the methane scrubber wear out faster.
