How do I run executable files on a Linux/Ubuntu OS?

I have executable for Linux, but I can't access the installer wizard. It doesn't open. Are there any more software I need to download for the executable files in order to install them?

I'm not sure I follow. Do you mean you want to know how to install Linux/Unbuntu? Or you have a package file containing an app you want to install?
