Are you running the setup via the "Run As..." option? If not try it. Is there enough space on the hard drive to install the software? Where did you get the software from?

You might also want to try running Setup with various compatibility options enabled such enabling the compatibility mode for Windows XP. Also, after having installed vb6, I've noticed that disabling certain graphical options such desktop composition can prevent issues such as the "Immediate" window being slow to respond when dragging it accross the screen.

Re: Installing VB 6.0 in Windows 7 error message
I just installed it sucessfully this morning on a new Windows 7 box at work. I needed to:
1. Run as adminisrator.
2. Copy the installion folder to my C: drive to clear up an "Acme file not found" error.
Don't forget the service pack.
Please remember next time...elections matter!

Yes, that is what I had to do last time I needed to reinstall VB6.
