Future of game programming
I would like to hear your opinions on the future of game programming.
Personally I think that HTML5 is the way to go. It's cross platform/device which makes it really attractive to programmers.

HTML5 still applies to mobile.
I think that there will be a console niche for as long as teenagers are willing to pay out the wazoo for those consoles.
It's the desktop(software) development that I think will be dead within the next 5 - 10 years.

Not sure about HTML 5, but yes, web and mobile are goin to lead the industry that's for sure.
IF up until a few years ago 'Snake' was the highlight of all games in the nokia cellphones, you now see a fully complicated 3d MMOs running on a 3 years old Android galaxy 1.
Not long into the future, top-rated EA games, will also be released to phones and tablets, the CPU preformances on these small applications are sky rocketing.
Won't suprise me if FIFA 2020, Battlefield X, and GTA 6\7, will be released to mobile.

When we're talking about web apps, yes, HTML5 should be the one. Personally, I prefer HTML5 'cause of its semantics The cross platform is just a bonus.
