Re: VB6 is DEAD!
Oh yes. I take my dislike of fish way more personally than modding. Shellfish in particular, are basically the insects of the sea. What with all those pointy antenna bits and too many legs. And you're not telling me that a lobster's anything more than an oversized cockroach. And... AND... they spend the whole time swiming in their own excrement. I mean, at least we have the decency to pump ours out to sea. You'd think that they'd get organised and pump there's off somewhere else, wouldn't you? Filthy Blighters!

He was then supposed to show up at a meeting the next day, but didn't make an appearance or even call in. I was able to get in touch with him that evening, at which point he informed me that the only time he'd been able to leave his bed all day was to crawl to the toilet. I didn't want anymore details than that.
Bison is great....you just don't want to get anything extra with it, as he did.

You are probably pretty safe with lobster. We are VERY inefficient about trapping them, and generally only eat relatively young lobster. They do have a tendency to eat all kinds of things, but they aren't filter feeders, and tend to eat relatively low on the food chain, so they may be safer than filter feeders like clams and oysters.

Most bison is not pure bison anyways. I've been told by folks who work with them that they've interbred with cows enough that there is some percentage of bovine DNA in most bison.

Not long ago I took a very attractive young lady out for dinner for sushi.
The smell reminded me of rotten fish eggs used for bait.
(My folks did a lot of rowboat fishing on lakes.)
Long story short She wolfed down high priced sushi like it was candy.
I gave her a hug goodnight instead of a kiss. I couldn't imagine going there.

Strange, I can't remember the smell of rotting fish in any sushi place I have ever been to.

I don't know what they serve as sushi, I do know that some salt water fish have a very strong smell even when fresh. I remember packing some several years ago and several hours later and after washing my hands several times the smell was still noticeable.
Not sure how this thread got twisted into advocating sushi, or any other food for that matter but I guess it is time to unsubscribe as the thread is being to smell like raw fish

I guess some fish are a bit smelly although I have never been put off by the smell of any raw sushi or any cooked fish either.

Yep everyone starts with sushi and if they like it then they will almost certainly progress to sashimi later on.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but it IS good news.
Sashimi is often more expensive. After all, the fish is the expensive part. The place I go has a most pleasing fish/rice ratio in their nigiri.

I see that they have now started a new petition. This one has only 700 votes, or so, thus far. Even an explicit statement doesn't put an end to it. Which leads me to wonder: What is the horse, and who is doing the beating?

Re: VB6 is DEAD!
Here you go:
http://visualstudio.uservoice.com/fo...improved-versi
It's kind of silly, actually. They start off by invoking, "the silent majority of VB6 users." Of course, the silent majority won't be voting because they are....wait for it....silent. The one who started the petition, all who comment on it, and all who vote for it, are not silent by definition. Whether or not they are a majority is debatable, but silent they are not.
None too flexible, either.

Re: VB6 is DEAD!
In the first comment on the new petition, sten stated:
Microsoft has sent a clear message to developers throughout the world "Do not use Microsoft developer tools. You simply cannot trust Microsoft to protect your investment."
The message that should have been sent is: Don't get into programming if you don't like change.
The hardware changes, the languages change, open source projects come and go as interest waxes and wanes, companies grow and fold, and all of this happens within the timespan of our careers. Coding isn't like ranching where people can say, "my daddy did it this way, and his daddy before him, and his daddy before him." In coding, the last decade is for old folks. I started in the 80s. There was no VB, of course, because there was no V to B. I then wandered off until the mid-90s, at which point there was a VB, there was ANSI C, no ANSI C++, GUI OS were just starting to appear (unless you were a mac fan), and Java was just a drink. I went through PDA's, too. I even had one, and wrote a few programs for them. That tech lasted only a few years before being replaced by smartphones.
I wrote a tablet app before Apple came out with the iPad. The app would have worked a whole lot better had there been any tablets at that time. Now, tablets are becoming ubiquitous. Dilettante feels that the MS OS is going to be replaced by Android, but that's nothing new. It was going to be replaced by Linux before that, and Apple even earlier (not to mention OS/2, since nobody probably thought THAT was going to replace anything). Still, he could just as easily be right as wrong. The only thing certain is that what is the standard today is not going to be around tomorrow.
So, don't abandon MS because VB6 was discontinued. Instead, abandon the entire career, because it's probably moving too fast for your comfort. I know the technology will change. I know that the language I know now will not last until my retirement. I just don't know where to move to, and when will not even be my decision.
