creating a partition in hard drive without loosing data
I have a hard drive (older one, long time unused), it had 3 partitions, C, D and E. After long time i connected it and started the system so i found that there is no O/S installed in it When i tried to install the windows so it during it asked me that if you want to install windows in the selected partition so press enter and below there it was written that Unpartititioned space (250000 MB).
My question is that i had very very important data in D and E partitions, but where these partitions have gone, i don't know. Please guide me now that if i install the windows in an unpartitioned space (but first create paritition) so will i loose all my data?.... Please guide me through that i could save all my data. ....

Why on earth did you try to install an OS on a disk with precious data on it?
I sounds like the Windows installer has created a new partition table, erasing the old one.
Maybe a tool like this can help you:

Depending on which operating system you are using the Computer Management section under the Security and System/Administrative Tools section of the control panel has what you want. Once you have Computer Management open go to the "Storage" section and click on "Disk management". You might need to wait a minute or two for it to load but it will show you all the drives on you computer and you can add a partition, rename partition, adjust size, etc in there

Don't use this disk, boot from another disk and just connect this disk using an additional cable.

You should always install the Windows OS on C partition, let the remaining drives be there and don't remove or change anything on other drives. I actually always do this everytime i see virus or error on my laptop.

Didn't you notice any PC issues after you stop seeing these hard disk partitions? Try to make a hard disk diagnostics using such programs as Acronis Disk Director for example.

Use this disk a second one (as a data disk - NOT as a system disk) in PC with Windows XP or up. Then recover the data with Ontrack EasyRecovery or with StrongRecovery software.

if it's not booting you probably installed windows to a partition not marked as "active" or "bootable". Get ahold of a linux live cd (or usb stick) and you should be able to fix the boot problem. It's possible to fix from command line in windows as well with fixdisk (fdisk) but it's not as intuitive.

If he was trying to boot from a hard drive that didn't have a operating system on it he would receive a message along the lines of "Couldn't find boot-able operating system" or something along those lines.
