File returns different Content-Encoding and content-length

In our VB6 application we are using vbmhwb dll and downloading a file from web. The files get downloaded properly but it returns different content-length. When I observed reason for it I found that http header had different Content-Encoding. below are http header for same file in different PC.The file was binary same after download. So when Content-Encoding occurs? Also How to get actual size of file from header?

    Content-Length: 671

The second one was sent back gzip encoded (compressed). Unless you can intercept the actual transferred data and extract the expanded length from within it I doubt you can obtain it.
