Checking Ink Levels of Network Printers

Hi. I am trying to build a program that could monitor the ink/toner levels of around 50 HP network printers. What I don't know is how to contact the printer within the program and get ink/toner level information. Can somebody please help me?

Um ... probably not. You'd need to find out from HP whether there are any entry points to the printer firmware. Does HP have a printer API, you must enquire of them.

It depends on the fact if HP makes those types of functionalities available in COM objects too. Usually this type of functionality is not available publicly. Also, if any of the HP printers differ in models you will still battle as there are no universal way to check this.

This is what I could find on their site :
