    Resolved [RESOLVED] VB2010 Express install error 2908 & 1935

    Hello,

I hope this is the right forum section, and if not, I'm sorry.

I can't install Visual Basic 2010 express because I keep getting error 2908 a couple of times and finally an error 1935, after which the installation rolls back.
I never had this problem on Windows XP, but since a couple of weeks I have Windows 7 installed and now I can't install VB anymore.

I have also tried disabling antivirus, running the setup executable as administrator, and reinstalling the .NET framework,
This is very frustrating for me.

    My OS:
    Windows 7
    32 bit
    .NET framework 4.0

    Can anyone please help me?
Would be VERY VERY much appreciated!

    Re: VB2010 Express install error 2908 & 1935

    It works!!!
    Finally!
    Thank you SO much!

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\mscoree.dll was the problem.
See, I have .NET framework 4.0 installed and the version of this file was not 4.0 but 2.0.
So, I fixed it as follows:
    1. Downloaded a correct version of mscoree.dll
    2. Booted from the Windows 7 installation disc
    3. Started the command prompt
    4. Renamed system32\mscoree.dll to something else (I did mscoree.dll.old)
    5. Copied the downloaded mscoree.dll file to system32\
When I restarted the computer, logged in and (once again) ran the VB2010 Express installer, it worked!

    So, once again, thanks!!!
