Pfft when you have posters that can recall John and James, Mrs LePont, Jesus4U, and the rampaging Katie then you're talking old faces.

Has the database been cleared of old threads? Trying to find one a member named BeachBum raised in here back in the dim dark ages when dinosaurs and C++ walked the earth

Actually pre-historic means "before written history".

Kind words summoned me back from the wilderness of obscure soldering and firmware hacking. I remember when I was a software nerd. VBF was awesome back then.

Mendhak, Bodwad, NoteMe, ElectroMan, TomGibbons, Emil, TS, .... the list goes on. Billgeek was definitely a major contributor when I was active here

I learned VB6 (1999) and C# (2003 onwards) on VBF. Had it not been for VBForums.com I'd have made nothing of my life by now. Oh wait.

It amuses me greatly that VBF still has the Doomsharp forum. Now that was a fun project.

Yes folks, VBForums was on the forefront of trolling probably 3 years before the rest of the world.

    University - starts with kind of a Y-sound - like "young" - so it's "a university"

That is what I figured. I don't remember learning that in school... Always went with what sounded correct.

That reminds me of the time I tried cheese making. I was trying to get a particularly sharp cheddar, as those are pretty interesting. Things were going pretty well up until the time I tried it out for the first time. My first indication that something was wrong when the knife cut it way too easily, and way too messily. In fact, the cheese was kind of soft and creamy. The taste was anything but sharp, too. In fact, it was quite mild and a bit sweet. In horror, I exclaimed, "Oh God, I've created...a meunster!!!"

You have to wonder if that's the most common expression uttered by new fathers upon seeing their children in a certain town in Germany, too.
