Re: Apple MAC OLE & COM Computer Programming...
It would seem that it has nothing to do with VB6. VB6 programs work under Windows, of course you can run Windows on a MAC but personally I would never pay the inflated price for a MAC if I were going to use Windows. I would instead buy a better PC and save a bunch of $

Re: Apple MAC OLE & COM Computer Programming...
So would I, but then I have heard of a Native Code Compiler for VB6 COM, that can compile the EXE for a PowerPC Apple MAC, or there of. So then that would be better to have an even bigger market to fill when we are programming and then that is always a plus in my books. As to seeing that we can also write .NET for MACs as well. I have just been looking and then they also have a version of C# and then they work with .NET the very same way that Visual Studio/Windows does, too. Then we just have to harmess the power of an Apple MAC and then I say, do it for the good of the Information Technology Industry!!

Re: Apple MAC OLE & COM Computer Programming...
There is no such animal as VB6 Com. It is called VB6. As for a compiler that builds a native code exe for Leopard or other MAC OS I doubt it. There is a native code compiler for Windows OS.
I've been developing apps for many years now and to date I have had no requests to build anything for a Mac, not 1. I have not even saw a Mac in use other than on TV where Mac must give their notebooks to movies and TV shows to get on camera. I have had requests to develop for Linux, iPhone and Android but never for a Mac. Also despite the ad campaign ran by Mac PCs are not Windows and Macs are PCs it is just that they ship with the Mac Os which can not work on most hardware, where as Windows is build to support almost everything on the market.

Re: Apple MAC OLE & COM Computer Programming...
Almost everything on the current open white markets. However I have had problems with that Phoenix type of Joystick, that could be able to make gaming better. Well it didn't it broken from the base of the stick and then couldn't get it fixed or a replacement one cause of the deal that was stuck with me and then the now owner of that computer store. Anyway that computer, which is named: Headlam Computers, in Cambridge Street Leaderville in Perth, WA. Well it was taken down in record time, only staying afloat becuase of selling Playstation PSX Games and then PC. They stopped selling Atari ST and also Amiga stuff, long ago there. I guess that it was about eighteen years ago that they went broke. As for the Native Code Compiler, which you can use on a MAC, I just got the Macintosh Projector to work using: "Adobe Director MX 11.5!!" So then it's using Widnows OCX COM ActiveX Controls and then it's also using the Macintosh type of Projector when it is using a PowerPC Chip and then when it's using the Windows Projector then your computer is using the x86/x64/RISC chipsets. Isn't that cool or what, I now ask you that much???

Re: Apple MAC OLE & COM Computer Programming...
No idea what "Macintosh Projector" is ... Are you referring to a piece of hardware made by Mac or something else here?
I have never used or looked at Adobe Director
What makes you think it is using Windows OCX controls?
What would any of that have to do with compiling a VB6 program to run on a Mac?

Re: Apple MAC OLE & COM Computer Programming...
Well I'm using the ActiveX.x32 COM Xtra, that comes with Adobe Director. Also that Director was just written in the Visual Studio: Java and then it is multi platform and then it works on Windows, Unix, Lunix, OS/2 Warp and then also OS X, too. The only thing that it doesn't work on is DOS, for goodness sakes!! Also a Projector is something like a EXE File, that is placed over the Project Files and then makes one big happy EXE File that has all of the ActiveX, Xtras, Fonts and other media files, too into one big file. Then it now has RunTime Files, that are Downloaded from the Internet so then you must have the Internet or something to install the RunTime Files, into. Which in this case you only need to have the only set of the RunTime Files, as you have in Visual Studio, etc...

Still failing to see what any of this has to do with VB6?
As for the projector, never heard of this but I can't imagination that it could output a working program for a Mac given a VB6 project unless all it is doing is making a movie for the program running under windows.
Also note that even if something is written in Visual studio that does not mean it has anything to do with VB6 One could easily write C++ code in VS then use a different compiler to build for OS x or Linux

Re: Apple MAC OLE & COM Computer Programming...
That is what I've been saying. But Director can do MAC and Windows PCs, in the IDE as Native Code... Which I have just mastered here, on this very night of mine to finish writing a Director Movie that can support both Windows and OS X, when not changing very much in the way of Source Code in the Movie and also the ActiveX Control Objects...
Please Note:
#1: Don't use App.Path anymore when trying to find the current application path of the EXE or OCX Built File. Cause on a PowerPC MAC, it will really screw with your Director Movie...
#2: MAC Director Movie Projectors add about 1.37Mb of added weight to our Application by making a special folder, with other files inside of it that will make it run on both a MAC or Windows based PCs...

Re: Apple MAC OLE & COM Computer Programming...
What? If it is making a movie of an app then what use would that be? My customers don't want a movie of the app they want a working app. Something that they can enter and save data, search, display, edit, report a movie could do none of these things.
Once again I do not see how any of this even remotely applies to VB6.
You could make a movie of your app with a camera phone and play the movie on a mac but that does not mean you created a VB6 program that works on a MAC.

Please Note: A Movie is what a Project is called inisde Director.
A Stage is the current Me.hWnd Form, that is on the Main Screen.
The Score is a Time Line of Controls, mainly Images that appear inside the Project.
A Film Loop is an Animated GIF that is able to be made and also edited inside Director, itself. It may also include Scripting and Audio or Video, of some sort of kind like from QuickTime Movies, etc...
Yes, I know it's very hard termonoloy, but then hey it originated from an Apple Mac!!

Sounds pretty useless actually, every thing you have said there sounds like it is just generating a movie or presentation. Which you can do with 100s of different tools and yes movies will play under other platforms they just need a different player. Where is the part where you enter data, save data, query databases, interact with the user. You know like the things that make an application an application rather than a slide show.
I would also say that VB6 has had a shelf life quite a bit longer than 5 or 6 years. going on 15 years now and still going.
So what you are describing may appeal to someone but I do not think this belongs in the Vb6 area of the forums and has nothing to do with VB coding
There is a huge difference between a tool that makes movies and a tool that allows you to design and build real world applications.

Re: Apple MAC OLE & COM Computer Programming...
Well my Application really does build real world and real true to life programs and applications, like slide show presentations and also other things like console games, like on the Sega, Nintendo and Microsoft gaming consoles. You just have to wait until I am able to make an IDE Session for it, for example: You have to switch modes to get into that kind of system then you will then be able to send it through a RunTime Debugger and finally you can then Build the Game, using the special Native Code Compiler for that particualr gaming console, weather it be a Sega, Nintendo or rather a Microsoft XBOX...
