In Micro-speak "IT Professional" refers to a blue collar box and cable technician, typically with a high school diploma but not necessarily. The "Professional" part is meant ironically.

So it has little or nothing to do with software development... but I guess this is chit-chat.

I looked at the browsers scroll bar after opening the pdf, I quickly noticed, I would rather explore windows 8 then read the ebook, and then i closed the pdf.

Maybe you should have read chapter 6? Regardless, when coding in Windows 8 it is nice to understand a little something about how it works. There is also some mention of how legacy languages might have problems running, and why. But you're right, entirely unimportant stuff.

No problem though: Chalk up 1 under completely dissatisfied.

I should have known better. If only I had a degree.

Chapter 6 is about deployment, which is actually supposed to be a "TechNet" issue and not an "MSDN" or developer issue. Sadly most box jockeys are so clueless this falls back on the developer like so many other tasks.

Have you at least read Windows 8 Product Guide for Developers?

And then there are the resources over at Windows Dev Center.

And all of the info at Building Windows 8.

And Developer downloads for programming Windows Store apps.

No, there is plenty out there including Channel9 videos I haven't even bothered to link. I assume people already know about most of things as programmers anyway.

    You're right.

In the book under the introduction, there is a section called We want to hear from you. There is the perfect opportunity for you to give them a piece of your mind. Tell them you didn't actually read the book because it is too far beneath you, but that the title itself has really upset you.

Just playin' Dilettante! It's a book, friend.
