    Buying concert tickets online

How do you know if a site is legit?

Anyone ever hear of ticketliquidator.com? Why would they have tickets and ticketmaster does not? I searched for "any price, best available" at ticketmaster and came up empty handed, even though it did not say the conert was sold out.

They may make an exclusive deal with a certain vendor to sell the tickets. Who's performing? You can check their official websites. Artists usually have a tour section with a list of concert dates and a link to where you can buy tickets.

    Green Day.

Thanks. I will look at their site. Tickets have been on sale for a while, and we just decided we want to go, so I do realize we may not even get tickets at this time.

greenday.com has a link to "tickets" which takes you to ticketmaster.com. That's where I had gone originally.

I now see that if I try to use the DDL to pick an option (price or seating), it will say "no tickets available at this price" or "...at this option". If it's sold out, why don't they just say so?

And then the liquidator.com site says weird things like the tickets will be emailed - so then I just print it off on a piece of paper, and it's accepted? Or, tickets will be US mailed on 1/15 (the concert is 1/19).

Why would they have tickets and ticketmaster does not?
Because they're basically modern day ticket touts. They block buy a bunch of tickets on release and then sit on them until the concert sells out. Then they offer them for re-sale at a premium. Personally I don't like it but that's just the way the world is.

Looking round the InterWeb it looks like their legit and you'll get your tickets but read the Terms and Conditions carefully because they do apply a markup and they don't make it very clear on their site. Lots of folks have found themselves paying more than they thought they were (sometimes quite alot more) and a very few didn;t get the seat they picked but they all seemed to get their tickets OK.

EMail tickets aren't that unusual these days. It'll probably have a barcode on it that they'll scan on entry.

Enjoy Green Day (they're not as good as they used to be, though... more soft rock than punk these days )

I brought my 11 and 13-year-old daughters to their first concert in August - Linkin Park - I just thank God they have great taste in music and didn't want to go see Justin Bieber like most kids their age.

I told them we could go to one concert a year. So we were thinking about Green Day but they didn't really say they wanted to go. Then the 13-year-old is doing a PPT on Green Day (I think just for fun, though last year she did one on One Republic for school), and getting all into it telling me about the band members, etc, so I said *do* you want to go to the concert? So we are deciding kind of late; thanks for the tips about the tix.

What exactly *is* punk rock? I agree GD is, but I don't believe LP is, though I've heard them called that. Anyway, maybe they'll be like LP who played a lot of their old stuff 'cause they know their fans love it and that was more important to them than promoting a new album, I guess. The only song they didn't play that we like is Crawling.

    You've clearly raised them well

Who the hell knows? It's like any kind of music, it's easier to say what it isn't than what it is. Linkin Park definitely aren't, GreenDay probably were in their early days but I'm not sure they are now. The Sex Pistols definitely were. Hell, Blondie was a punk!

True. If you quizzed me, I'd probably get 100%.
