    Creating sequentially numbered documents with date

    Hi

    I found this bit of code on the link
    http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/MacrosVBA/NumberDocs.htm

    how can i modify it to enter the date/time in to the settings.txt every time the word document is opened. With each date time entry inserted on new row

    thanks for any help

    Order = System.PrivateProfileString("C:\Settings.Txt", _
    "MacroSettings", "Order")

    If Order = "" Then
    Order = 1
    Else
    Order = Order + 1
    End If

    System.PrivateProfileString("C:\Settings.txt", "MacroSettings", _
    "Order") = Order

    ActiveDocument.Bookmarks("Order").Range.InsertBefore Format(Order, "00#")
    ActiveDocument.SaveAs FileName:="path" & Format(Order, "00#")

    does this work now or what?
    i do my best to test code works before i post it, but sometimes am unable to do so for some reason, and usually say so if this is the case.
    Note code snippets posted are just that and do not include error handling that is required in real world applications, but avoid On Error Resume Next

    dim all variables as required as often i have done so elsewhere in my code but only posted the relevant part

    come back and mark your original post as resolved if your problem is fixed
