Lightbulb Video Tutorial (in GIF format)

    Hi,

Most often, I see members having trouble on how to mark their thread as RESOLVED.

So, I just made a quick video(GIF) on how to do that.

Hope it would help some of the newbies.

    Camtasia Studio

So far, the best screen recording software I've ever used. It allows producing the video in different formats as well adding callouts and other stuff which are pretty easy.

We do have a little tutorial covering this function, although it's nowhere near as fancy as yours:

Yes we can use Akhi's help once the forum upgrades to design these gifs. The FAQ would look super kool then.. er, minus the "Yo Boys"

I certainly think that a set of these videos to cover the various aspects of posting in this forum would be a welcome addition.

Re: Video Tutorial (in GIF format)

might be better to do these as videos (with audio) than just gifs. Either way - I'm okay with posting how-to videos on the forum.

Would there be a limit to the size of the videos that could be uploaded? Or would you prefer that they were hosted elsewhere and simply linked to?

Re: Video Tutorial (in GIF format)

You should always try to make videos as short and as compact as you can for people with bandwidth restrictions. Having said that, QuinStreet (VBForums) has the ability to host videos, or we could also use YouTube.

Re: Video Tutorial (in GIF format)

Akhi! The time has come in case you would like to take that initiative. If you wish you can create those Gifs (better than videos)

I am not too keen on videos because of 2 reasons.

    1. People with bandwidth restrictions will definitely won't watch it.
    2. Redirecting Traffic to Youtube!!! I am not too comfortable with that. Also people can get easily distracted once they are in youtube At least I get distracted

Let me know if you need any help

Re: Video Tutorial (in GIF format)

The mark thread as resolved functionality that you showed in the original gif is actually back on yet, so you would struggle to re-create it

Do we need to create a list of common functionality that we want to start creating helper gifs/videos for?

    Yeah.

A list would be better I think. So that we don't need to cover pretty basic stuff.
