    Win7 display turns off after 20 min

    if i go to power management settings and set "turn off the display" to "never", then push save, i get no error, but, if i go AFK for 20 minutes, then the display still turns off.. and when the display turns off, if i go into power management then the setting is at 20 minutes again, as if the option didn't save properly, because if i save it and immediately open power management again, then it shows the setting as "never".

    how can i fix this problem? any suggestions?

    Which version of Windows 7 are you using? Are you using a laptop? Which power plan are you using?

    Work system or personal? If it's a company system, it's possible the IT folks have that option locked down.

    Ah ok! I will try trying my own custom power plan to see if it works for me because my pc in using Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Edit;

    If you create a custom power plan it asks you to select one of the three options, Balanced, Power Saver or High Performance then it gives you the same options as you normally have, Turn off display after x minutes, Put computer to sleep after x minutes.

    Check the settings you chose. You need to set both Turn off display after x minutes, Put computer to sleep after x minutes to what you are after otherwise the default settings for the option you don't set will kick in.

    do you perhaps have aftermarket software running that might be preempting your setting? I've seen this with mice.

    sorry for late response, well, i got software for my mouse, headset, keyboard..

    those are the only changes I've made after i reinstalled windows.

    changes:
    G35 headset, G9x mouse, G15 Advanced Gameboard and G19 keyboard. all of them got software running on my pc. i'm not sure which of them should do anything about it because i've tried closing them all, and then changing the options and it still goes back to 20 min..
