Question Excel activeX objects greyed out on a sheet

Strange one that I haven't run across before.

Trying to add a textbox to a sheet and select Design Mode then Insert from the Developer tab. The activeX objects are all greyed out, hence non selectable. Works fine in other sheets on the Workbook.

Settings correct via the File->Options->Trust Center option.

Can you somehow lock a sheet to dis-allow modification?

Is the sheet "in question" locked with a password?

Here is a quick way to check it

    Press ALT - T | P | P

Does it bring "Unprotect Sheet" dialog box?

Not password protected or in protext mode, right click sheet tab.

Very strange I detext a possible South Australian influence in the equation

Re: Excel activeX objects greyed out on a sheet

This has just happened to me to, and I am trying to figure out how to fix this.

Interesting thing is that if I move the sheet to a new book, the insert function in the developer tab re-appears, any idea on how to to fix in existing sheet please?

    Thanks!

OK - searched around on this and didn't find a method that works, but I was able to copy all of my sheets into a workbook which now works. Hope not to see that again
