There are various methods. Depends on what type of animated format you are talking aboug: gif, cursor, png, something else?

There are several options for showing an animated GIF:

    1. Webbrowser control as mentioned by RhinoBull. Search forum for: GIF webbrowser1
    2. DirectShow control. Search forum for DirectShow GIF
    3. Custom user controls. Here are 2 of mine: Simple Animated GIF Control & Alpha Image Control
    4. Manual parsing of the GIF
