Since the whole Metro, a.k.a. RT, a.k.a. App Store thing was a Big Thing the normal developer info we get for a new Windows release was pretty thin this time around. I can't think of any useful dev docs, presentations, etc. for Win8 like the kind we normally see for a new version of Windows.

But for those of you whole deal with "real" applications and have to cope with Windows 8 as a deployment target I've found a few MSDN "Dev Center" links that might be helpful.

Most programmers won't go through these thoroughly any more than they ever did the Dev Aids of the past, but at least anyone interested might use these as an entry-point into the little bit that is out there now.

Windows 8 Technologies (Preliminary)

Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 compatibility cookbook (Windows)

Desktop App Development Documentation (Windows)

Desktop Window Manager is always on (Windows)

I've already seen a few threads where people have been "bitten" by some of these new features and changes. By reading the linked material you can get ahead of these issues and work around them before your users start screaming.
