    EventHandler?

    Heyhey.

First of all, my apologies if this problem has nothing to do with EventHandlers. newbie lol

    This is whats going on:
i have a program called Vip Task Manager.
This program lets me set up task which others have to complete.
When they are done with a task they have to mark it "completed" and make a report on what they have done and used to perform this task.
Vip Task Manager has a button which directs them to an upload form, now when they press the "open" button I would like this to happen:

Open a certain report making program I made myself.
When they finished writing their report and press save, the program saves this report on a dedicated network HDD (.txt file) and closes itself
Then add the file or link to the upload form in Vip Task Manager.

What it all comes down to is that they dont have to minimize Vip task manager, open the report making software, save it, go to vip task manager, press upload, press open, look where this file is saved, select it, and upload it.

now, typed in red is whats already been taken care of.
The rest, I have no idea where to begin to be honest.

Can someone give me any suggestions?

    Thanks a lot!

Rephrase: First I want to find out how to retrieve that a button is pressed in a existing program. (dont know which code it is written in and it is not open source)

    Re: EventHandler?

So Vip Task Manager is another program written in some language?
You want to get the button-pressing on this program and do your stuff?
And then add the form in the upload of this Vip task program?
This is hard if non possible. You may get somewhere using windows API's (findwindow, findwindowex,WindowFromAccessibleObject etc) but the problem is that i don't know how you will be able to retrieve that a button was clicked.
If Vip Task Manager is created by you then you can override then WndProc class to get the messages it's sending. But i doubt that is the case else you wouldn't be asking this.
So in general the thing that is probably doable is to add a link to some textbox in the Vip Manager but detecting a button hit on another app...I don't know.
    Slow as hell.

    Re: EventHandler?

    OKe fair enough.
So retrieving that a button is pressed is impossible but do you think it might be possible to retrieve when a new window (upload window) comes up?

    Re: EventHandler?

    Hmm.
    You misunderstood.
It may be possible to write to a textbox in the program not retrieve when a new window comes up.

Can I add that I might be able to get some information on quite a few things from the Vip Task Manaher Development team if that makes things easier?

    Re: EventHandler?

I don't know the program but if they provide some dll and explain you what inputs and outputs is programmed to do then you may be able to get quite a lot!
Ask them what you want to do and don't worry if it's not a .net dll, we can accomplish stuff with dllimport.
Ask and we are here to help again.

Hmm bad luck on getting them to help me.
They simple say it cant be done.
    Any suggestions?
Maybe something can be done using macro recording?
it would mean a lot if someone can crack this!!

    Re: EventHandler?

Well if the more advanced API users here haven't provided you with a solution then i say it's if not impossible then very difficult.
You need to capture the events that take place inside the program and that, i'm not sure how it can be done.My closest thought is a pointer to the events (that you don't know there &address) and a address-pointer relative language.
    Slow as hell.
