    Why would you tape electronics to empty bottles?

    Those items were an empty shampoo bottle with watches attached to it and an empty bottle of a stomach medicine with mobile phones attached, according to the U.S. law enforcement source, who has been briefed on the investigation.

    Only reason I can think of is if the luggage got in the water during a crash, they wouldn't sink to the bottom of the sea, though they'd be ruined by the salt water.

    It could be a dry run. On the other hand, I spent a most interesting night in a Pittsburg bus station with a guy who had weirder stuff than that in his bag...and in his head. But that's a whole different story. People like that probably don't fly all that often.
