Transfer file from ftp server to Mainframes

    Hi All,

Has anyone tried automating file transfer from a ftp folder to mainframes??
The requirement is, we receive files that are emailed to a common id. We are planning to store them in a ftp folder (some files are automatically ftp'd to this folder also). We are looking at an option to code a vb script to automatically transfer the files from this folder to a mainframe server.

    Give your ideas.

From either VB or VBScript there is one obvious way to do this without looking for a 3rd party FTP component.

FTP.EXE will accept a "script" file of commands just as a user would type them interactively (user, pw, get or put commands, etc.). Use the -s switch for this.

Your VB or VBScript could build such a text file of commands and then use Shell() from VB6, or Exec() or Run() from VBScript to run an instance of FTP.EXE passing the text file's name via the command line -s switch:

    ftp -s:"text file of commands.txt"

Both methods suit our requirement... Now we have to choose the best of this two!!
    Thanks a lot
