VS 2010 Express: There is no editor available

Just upgraded from VB 2008 Express to VB 2010 Express.

When I double click on the .vb file under the solution explorer I get "there is no editor available for filename.vb"

I've tried repairing, removing and reinstalling. Nothing seems to work.

    Any ideas?

    Hey,

That seems a little strange. Did you upgrade the project/solution between the different versions, or are you simply opening the .vb file?

I opened the 2008 code and it went through the conversion wizard to 2010.

It created a backup of the files before it converted it.
The .vb file has all the main code in and the form design.

I've created new forms and cut and pasted the content from 2008 to 2010 and it seems to work. Might be some weird bug with the converter as if I create a new project it works fine. I've seem similar posts of other people having issues as well.

    Hey,

Interesting, I can't say that I have seen that issue personally, but it sounds like you have a workaround though.

Some references may be wrong. Correct all the references that are shown as wrong or remove them. Save all the files. You can now open your forms...

Thanks - I'll try that the next time I run into the problem.

I actually recreated all the forums by cut and pasting from 2008 into 2010 and it solved the problem.

I had this problem with only Solutions made in VB 2008. Any other version opened and converted automatically as intended. My suggestion? Create a new solution in 2010 and copy/paste all your code over.
