Adding the program to my website?

    Hello,

Recently I've been working on a huge project, and I've wanted to make a demo version for it. So users don't have to download it without checking the features, etc. Is there anyway to upload it to my website? I have a good amount of website coding experience in HTML and PHP, but not to much with Java and JavaApplets, etc.

Is there anyway I can add my program to my website for people to use? I know it's possible, people have done it before. Thanks!

    I would recommend using ASP.NET.

ASP.NET allows you to develop a website using common web languages as well as .NET Languages such as VB.NET and C#.

You will have to make sure that your server supports ASP.NET.

Alright, I'm done downloading it. Give me a second to figure it out, etc.

It will probably take some time to learn how to use it.

Any questions regarding ASP.NET should be asked in the ASP.NET forum.

Also, there are plenty of tutorials and FAQs in that forum.

I have a quick question. If you add this program to your website is it going to run as an .exe or do you have to make a java file or convert your code to actionscript or something like that. Or will ASP.NET allow you to run an .exe through an html page?

I'm not entirely familiar with ASP.NET, but as far as I understand, you're basically re-creating the app in the ASP.NET form.

With ASP.NET, you're not inserting your .EXE into it. Instead, you build the website with the .NET language as you would with normal web languages.

Its worth pointing out in case anyone is reading this and thinking "wow - asp.net will allow me to run my desktop app inside a web page" - it won't.

If you've been clever with the structure of your application then you can probably convert it to run online with just some re-working of the front-end, but ASP.Net is a development framework and not a tool for auto-magically running desktop apps online.

Right. Which I was hoping to convey through my reply to bagstoper.

Your explanation was much more straight forward

Okay lets say that I have made a snake game (like the original snake game but with a twist) can I somehow reconstruct that in ASP.NET? Or should i just learn flash and make a swf out of it?

I would say that you could do that, but I'm not entirely sure. Also, it probably wouldn't work the way you might think.

Your question is probably best placed in the ASP.NET forum, though.

You can definitely not make that with ASP.NET. I suggest that you learn flash. Flash is really fun to program and it's easier to make games with.

A game I made with flash in 10 hours having little prior knowledge.
