Applicability of WPF to ASP.NET applications
I just attended a week's worth of training and one of the modules was on WPF. My boss wants me to draft a list of tasks that I may be working on or doing differently in light of my training. I am maintaining an ASP.NET 2.0 website using Visual Studio 2005 and VB.NET. My question is, would I ever want to convert or upgrade to WPF? Is it applicable to both Windows and Web? Since my class was really Windows-based, it didn't touch as much on the web as I would've liked. I know the first requirement is .NET framework 3.0, but we could upgrade if I recommended it. But I don't like to use new technology just for the sake of using it especially if it disrupts current operations that work just fine with the older technology.
Thanks for your expert opinions!

WPF is windows centric, Silverlight would be the nearest thing to a web component of WPF that you would get and it is a different kettle of fish to ASP.NET.

Re: Applicability of WPF to ASP.NET applications
Thank you. I remember the mentor in the class said WPF was joining Web Forms and Windows Forms when I told him I didn't think it was something I'd ever be using. Then I never saw what he'd said in the reading material, nor the video. So unless I misunderstood, it looks like he misspoke. In which case I'm right, I won't ever use it, unless I write a Windows program again.

Well dont forget XBAPs, they are still technically 'web forms' I guess as you run them within a browser but you get pretty much all the functionality of WPF still. However, for a user to run an XBAP in their browser they must have .NET Framework 3.5 installed (obviously that is the same for any WPF app though).

I believe I've heard that kind of language before in a book ("WPF is joining Web Forms and Windows Forms"), but I think it was referring to the superficial similarities of syntax in HTML/ASP.NET to XAML.
