Do you know of any problems that might occur from virtualising a domain controller on VMWare ESXi?

I imagine the only problems that could occur would arise from routing access between physical and virtual switches. Out of the box, it should work with no problems unless you have some esoteric firewall setup.

We virtualise most of our server infrastructure — it's really rather straightforward.

This might seem obvious, but don't visualise over a NAT interface in VMWare. It can cause problems with some of the older broadcast based protocols.
