Beats the comp you have by more than a little, and the price is almost teh same.

Re: Buying new laptop
Dell makes great desktops, but I've had nothing but problems with their laptops.
I don't know why, but they keep breaking everytime I kick them across the room because someone said something on an internet forum that pissed me off. IBM laptops can take abuse better.
(VB/C#) is clearly superior to (C#/VB) because it (has/doesn't have) <insert trivial difference here>.

Re: Buying new laptop
We have IBM laptops at work, I'm not very impressed with them. They are loaded to the gills with various anti-virus and help desk applications, so that could be the problem. I'll check out the new egg site. Also, the last time I bought a video card, it was a voodoo 3 32MB card, I don't do much PC gaming so I'm behind the times.

The HD 2600 is a 512MB card, and the Turion 64 is a freaking awesome proc. I have it in this comp.. single core, though. Variable speed to preserve battery power, and an awesome FSB. On the whole, this comp's single Turion 64 can out-perform an Intel Core 2 Duo. Very nice proc. Absolute workhorse. I don't know how this comp is still running with all the abuse I dish out to it, but it's holding up great. I'd take a dual Turion over an Intel any day of the week.

The AMD is running on a stock notebook system, with NO video card at all (integrated), no dedicated VRAM, etc. (i.e. a notebook, what the other one SHOULD have been also).
I stand by my opinion.

Meh, didn't read it, as you said.
But in all honesty, no AMD CPU can keep up with the new Intel Core 2 Duo's mate, don't even kid yourself. Even the Phenoms fail.

I haven't played with the Phenom, but I'd like to. I can't judge its' performance until I actually try it out myself.

I was only speaking in regards to notebook quality. Last year my last company bought 6 top of the line Dell laptops (for the life of me I can't remember which ones) and all of them had a hardware issue at one point or another.

Any latitude D620 or higher has the worst screens I have ever seen. The backlighting is terrible, the screens are grainy, and the view angle is very narrow.

Well, to be fair, I haven't used any of their laptop screens. I have an E228WFP monitor, which I quite like. The gamma is a little weird and it has a funny highlight to upper-mid-range curve, but overall I quite like it.

Re: Buying new laptop
Well, I will have better audio and memory on the Dell, and the ASUS has more hard drive space. I would take an extra 1GB of RAM over 40GB of ROM.

Dude... ROM hasn't had a big place for years now.
