Learning many languages.
Not programming languages, of course :P
I've always been fascinated by different languages and cultures. Currently, I'm fluent in English because I was born and grew up in America and I'm semi-fluent in Spanish after taking 4 or so years of it in school.
I'm thinking about taking two language courses next year in my Junior year. Have any of you guys done this before? Would you recommend it? I'm planning on taking AP Spanish and Japanese 1. I've always wanted to learn Japanese, after all.
So my question to you guys is, would you recommend this? Is this a good way to learn language or will it just confuse me? Have any of you tried this sort of thing?

Re: Learning many languages.
I took Spanish in highschool and I sucked at it, and therefore hated it. I am taking Japanese currently at my university and I find it to be much easier than Spanish.

Agreed. Allow me to adjust my statement.
English is the universal speaking language.
Wait... I've talked in code more than once...
What the heck. Let's all speak C.

I would learn Korean instead of Japanese if my school offered it.

Appreciate that your school offers it. There is nowhere around here, that I have found, where I can learn any other languages.

Learn Italian
I am quite fluent in it and here in Australia, it is the second most spoken language. Having a second language under your belt can help you out in all walks of life, i at work almost speak Italian to a customer at least twice a day. If i didn't know Italian i would be stuck trying to decipher their words.
What is the second most spoken language in the US? Oh and don't waste your time on any Asian based languages. They are smart enough and learn English, they ain't as stubborn as some European nations that don't learn English

One should learn German, you'd never know when you sit in an airplane in the same row as one. At least when they suddenly speak in a spatter of German all by themselves, you'll know that it is not you they are cursing.

Re: Learning many languages.
I would guess that Spanish is the second most spoken language in the US.

Not when bullshifter is around.
Learn languages. Even having a basic understanding may come in handy. Try Arabic.

I have always been interested in the German language, history, etc. However, I'm a goldfish when it comes to learning languages.

Your English could also use some polishing. I hear penagate offers some non-sarcastic tutorials in a strange accent.

Back then, my cat pets understand to avoid me when I arrive at the house.
They only approach me If they have something to take from me, that is my food.

Re: Learning many languages.
I have learned French, Arabic, Persian, Spanish, Russian, Mongolian, Japanese and Sinhalese; and promptly discarded them as I did indeed find out that they are of no use once you leave the country. It's just better if the rest of the world learns English.
